Media Presentation Format for the Hearing Impaired via Streaming Television of Thai Public Broadcasting Service

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to 1) study the media presentation format for the hearing impaired via streaming television in the case study of Thai PBS Open House program of Thai Public Broadcasting Service and 2) study the type of content of communication for the hearing impaired via streaming television. This study used qualitative research by using the method of textual analysis of media. The population and research sample was tha material of Open House Thai PBS media program on streaming television, totaling 81 episodes. Research tools include a synthesizer of media presentation format elements, and a synthesizer of the type of content communicated. Research statistics include frequency and percentage. The results showed that types of content in communication through Thai PBS Open House program consists of 1) the introduction to other interesting programs of the station in 21 episodes, 2) the combination of various content in 17 episodes, 3) the clarification of media operations in 13 episodes, 4) the explaining academic content in 12 episodes, 5) the news reporting and situational issues in 10 episodes, 6) the reporting and comparison in 6 episodes, and 7) The how to teaching methods and tips in 2 episodes. The format of the media presentation through the Thai PBS Open House program consists of 1) the motion picture in 81 episodes, 2) the Thai sign language in 81 episodes, 3) the slide picture in 72 episodes, 4) the closed caption in 21 episodes, 5) the video infographic in 13 episodes, 6) the opened caption in 6 episodes, 7) the animated infographic in 4 episodes, and it was found that no artificial intelligence Thai sign language was used in Thai PBS Open House program.
